Seung Yong Chung: South Korean-American, Diane Farr’s Ex-Husband, Co-Founder of Cashmere Agency

Diane Farr was one of the biggest stars of the early 2000s. She appeared in several hit TV shows like Rescue Me, Splitting Up Together, and of course, Numb3rs.

Because of that, the actress has been in the spotlight for most of her adult life. She even made headlines in 2006 when she married entertainment marketing pro, Seung Yong Chung.

Although, the couple managed to keep their private lives away from the limelight. That’s why it was a major shock to fans when Farr referred to him as her ex-husband in a 2020 post.

This left many people wondering about what happened to the happy couple. If that’s the case, you’ve come to the right place.

In this article, I’ll cover everything you need to know about Seung and his marriage to Diane.

The public doesn’t know much about Chung’s upbringing, but there are a few details I can tell you. For starters, Seung was born in 1970, in Seoul, South Korea.

His father, Young Ja Chung, was a successful entrepreneur, and his mother, Tae Wha Chung, was a full-time caring nurse. Both parents wanted to ensure a good, comfortable life for their child.

So, when Seung was about two years old, the family moved to the US, specifically to Rockville, Maryland.

Although the South Korean couple had a rough start in America, they managed to turn the tables and flourish in the States. Today, Young Ja is the president of Intraco Korea, a Seoul-based import-export company.

Plus, Tae Wha retired after a long career as a nurse at the George Washington University Hospital in D.C. As you can tell, both parents valued hard work and dedication, traits that they passed on to their son.

Seung graduated from high school in 1988. By the fall of the same year, he’d received his acceptance letter from Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business.

There, he spent the next four years earning a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Finance. But his thirst for knowledge didn’t end there.

A few months after his college graduation, Chung enrolled as a master’s student at George Washington University. This time, instead of finance, he focused on information systems.

After two years of hard work, he earned his master’s degree in 1995 and set off on an amazing career.

In 2003, Seung co-founded the Cashmere Agency with Ted Chung and serves as its CEO. It’s a lifestyle marketing company that focuses on identifying trends to create advertising campaigns that resonate with and drive culture.

To do that, the agency relies on social media, public relations strategies, and digital trends. This allows Cashmere to provide full-service support to all clients, from brainstorming campaigns to executing them.

Because of its stellar service, the agency has worked with quite a few of the biggest brands and entertainment companies in the world. Some of the most notable examples are:

  • BMW of North America
  • Facebook
  • Amazon
  • Universal Pictures
  • Quibi
  • AppleTV+
  • Adidas
  • DoorDash
  • Jack in the Box
  • Netflix

During Seung’s tenure as CEO of the Cashmere Agency, the company has won several awards. These include the Cannes Lions Creative Award and AdAge’s Multicultural Agency of the Year in 2019.

I can’t talk about Seung’s life without mentioning his long romance with the actress Diane Farr. The couple met in 2004, and while there was immediate attraction, the romance didn’t start right away.

Since Chung and Farr were busy building their careers, their love story would have to wait. Although, after another chance meeting in 2005, the two began dating.

Even though both Seung and Diane’s parents weren’t for the relationship, the couple chose to stay together. Then, by 2006, they tied the knot at Rainbow Tarns, a lodge in Mammoth Lakes in California.

After about 10 months of wedded bliss, Chung and Farr welcomed their first child, Beckett. Yet, it seems like the couple couldn’t wait for a big family.

About nine months after their son was born, Diane announced she was pregnant with twins. In 2008, Sawyer and Coco Chung joined the happy family.

Following the birth of the twins, Seung and Diane’s relationship faded from the public eye. It wasn’t until years later that we heard news of the divorce.

In 2020, Farr identified Chung as her ex-husband in an Instagram post. However, neither party has commented on the reasons behind the separation.

Wrapping Up

Most people know Seung Yong Chung as Diane Farr’s ex-husband. Yet, the South Korean-American entrepreneur has much more to offer.

After earning a bachelor’s in finance and a master’s in information systems, Chung co-founded his own company. He launched the Cashmere Agency in 2005 with partner Ted Chung to roaring success.
