Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Can I tell you a secret? Well, I’ve sort of told you before if you’ve been here for a while, but I’ll tell you again. St. Patrick’s Day comes in dead last on my “Rank The Holidays from Favorite to Least Favorite List.” There, I said it. So today, to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, I’m talking about Easter, specifically, a Simple Easter Table Idea If you’re coming over from Eighteen25, hey there! Nice to have you. And if you’re not, you’ll want to head over when you’re done here because I’m giving the full rundown of the color dipped placemates I used on my table. So let’s just jump right to the table rundown.
I love simple table settings, for several reasons. One, they’re just pretty. And two, they just make that whole hosting thing easier. You have enough to do when company comes, who wants to spend hours and hours setting the table? Okay, really, I could spend hours, but when you’re cooking a big meal, it usually falls to the bottom of the priority list. So this Easter table is about as easy, and casual as it gets. Not even a tablecloth (although you could easily add one if that’s a little too casual for you).
I started with some muslin placemats (tutorial over at Eighteen25), and a muslin runner (just tore a piece off in the width I wanted). And I’m sort of obsessed with decorative moss balls right now–I know they’ve been around forever, but man I love a good pop of green and these things BRING IT! So I put some on a little wood tray with a couple of Easter eggs.
I added a few topiaries, set in some old mercury glass candle holders, and some bunny votive holders with wood eggs–I’m so obsessed with these wood eggs.
Finally, for the place settings, some simple linen napkins I made at Thanksgiving, wrapped with ribbon–you know it had to have at least a little touch of gold. I added some boxwood sprigs that I just trimmed off of my bushes in the front yard and laid a colored egg on top.
Pretty darn simple huh?
If you want to make placemats like these, you can find the tutorial over a Eighteen25 and they’re soooo easy! (They make great napkins too.)
