Welcome to one of my FAVORITE days of the year! Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours hosted by Lindsay of White Buffalo Styling Co. If you haven’t checked out her house yet, make sure you run over there because I cannot get enough of her Christmas home this year. I seriously want to spend Christmas at her house! If you’re coming over from Life on Virginia Street, a big welcome!! Sarah is another one of my style favs and her house is gorgeous this year!! And now, let me take you on a little tour of my Christmas home. I shared my Christmas entryway a couple of weeks ago, so we’ll just make a quick stop there. You can see more of the entryway here.
Next is our little corner off our garage that we use as the “unloading” spot for backpacks, coats, purses, shoes, and now that it’s winter, it’s usually piled in coats and snow gear, so I straightened it up a bit for today.
I recreated a chalkboard I’ve loved for a couple of years (you can find the original here), added one of my favorite pom pom garlands, and I know tole painting is like sooo 1995, but this little Santa Advent Calendar was made by my mom years ago and holds special memories for me, so we always find a place to hang him. My seven year old thinks he’s the coolest too, and that’s what really matters at Christmastime anyway, right?
Next, we’ll wander into the living room where you’ll find the dog doing what she does best, although she’s usually on the back of the couch crushing my pillows.
This is another room that I shared last week, so we won’t stick around here too long. You can find the rest of the living room tour here.
I have lots of little weird nooks and crannies and alcoves in my cozy (see also: little) open house, and this past Summer my husband built me some floor to ceiling shelves to store my ever-expanding sand collection, so I had fun adding a few Christmas touches. There were grand plans, to Christmasify these things, but at some point you just sort of decide that you’re done decorating and you’re going to enjoy the rest of the season, you know? So simple is how it ended up and simple is what I always end up liking best anyway.
I think this is a little mug stand that I found at the thrift store, and it’s a great little way to display some of your favorite ornaments.
I keep joking with my husband that I’m going to put a tree in our bedroom because the idea makes him totally cringe, but I didn’t really get around to it. He was so disappointed As a compromise, Home Depot has bunches of fresh Holiday greenery for $6.00, so I bought some and put them on the nightstands. Instant Christmas cheer (and awesome smell) and my husband doesn’t have to bathe in the light of the tree every night.
And now, I think my favorite part of the house this year: the dining room. Turns out blue ticking stripe + Christmas trees (from Michael’s) + mercury glass is totally my jam. On Monday, I’ll be sharing my Christmas Dining room all set up for Christmas Eve Dinner. I’m really excited to share some of my favorite memories and Christmas Eve traditions with you.
I think my favorite part is the fuzzy little snowballs that I found at Michael’s. It doesn’t show up well here, but they sparkle too. It’s not Christmas without some glitter, right?!!!
The kitchen just got it’s annual garland treatment. It’s so simple, but this is always one of the places that makes me smile the most. I usually buy lots of fresh garlands, but I found these for $5.00 at Walmart this year and couldn’t pass them up. I added some frosted pinecone ornaments from World Market, because the name of the game this year is “snow on all the things.”
The basement family room is where the “eclectic” tree full of the handmade and sentimental ornaments lives. This might actually be my favorite tree ever. Every time I walk down the stairs, I just smile. And for the record, everyone should have a disco ball. Just look at those lights on the wall and ceiling. It never gets old.
And finally, my real favorite tree in the whole house, my daughter’s. Please excuse the terrible lighting, but I just can’t get enough of this mini flocked tree. And my favorite part about it is that it’s so her.
She’s picked out all of the ornaments over the last couple of years so they basically tell the story of her and I love that. Lots of animals because she is an animal lover, Taylor Swift (which plays music, so I’m happy to have that one live in her bedroom), even one she picked out that represents her school mascot. My favorite though is the little glass balloon animal we got at Target this year. Too much cuteness!Whew! We made it through! Thank you so much for stopping by! I’m actually the last stop on today’s tour, but be sure to go over to White Buffalo and take the tour from the beginning, and be sure to head over to DIY Playbook bright and early tomorrow morning. It’s a double dose of awesome because Casey and Bridget and BOTH sharing their homes and they both have style for days!!
All of the other tour stops (you’ll want to see them all, trust me!!).
