Christmas Entryway

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…. A couple of weeks ago I shared the first little glimpse of Christmas at our house, but over the next couple of weeks, my friend Ashley from Cherished Bliss has rounded up some ladies with some serious style to show you our Holiday homes, one room at a time. Let the decking of the halls officially begin! Over the next four weeks, we’ll be taking you through a different Holiday space in each or our homes, and hopefully you come away just a little (or a lot) inspired! If you’re coming over from Little Glass Jar, welcome! I seriously adore Ashley’s style.

christmas-entryway-decor-myfabulesslife-comI started pulling my Christmas stuff out the other day to decorate my entryway, and then we had a bit of a “mishap,” courtesy of a delivery man, and a dog that can’t control her excitement when someone knocks on the door. It ended up in a very large crash of glass and decorative snow all over my floor. Fun times. So I freaked out a little, thought about going out and buying a bunch of new stuff, including replacing the table, because, why not? And then I took a step back, turned down the crazy a little, and decided to just go simple and shop what I had around the house, Lord knows I have a big enough stash of Christmas stuff.

I’m all about the natural, snow-covered look this year (with some touches of red as you’ll see next week). I found these amazing green garlands at Walmart the other day, and promptly grabbed like 10 of them, because guess what?! They’re $5.98!!!! I usually use lots of live garlands at Christmas time, but my house gets insanely hot during the day because of my south-facing windows, so live greens die in a couple of weeks. These look very real, they’re half the price of the real ones, AND I can use them every year. Win, win, and WIN!!

My favorite big cloche that I usually decorate seasonally was destroyed in the “Delivery Man vs. Dog” mishap (and as luck has it, I had just set up the cutest little snowy scene inside), so I just switched it out for a galvanized tray, which I’m kind of loving (while I still mourn the loss of my beautiful cloche). It’s like all of my favorite Christmas things in one little tray: bells, vintage ornaments, bottle brush trees, and sparkly houses…oh my.

christmas-entryway-simple-christmas-ideas-myfabulesslife-comPine cones and that sparkly fake snow (the kind that sticks to everything) has become my go-to, easy decor this year. So to finish things off on the table, I filled a little olive bucket with some big pine cones (the cinnamon ones that are everywhere this time of year would be perfect for this) and sprinkled some snow over the top.

I have this sort of awkward wall on the other side of my entryway that we added a shelf to earlier this year, so I set up a simple little vignette with some of my favorite sparkly trees and bottle brush trees, and one of my most prized possessions: this Christmas embroidery that I got from my Grandma. Can you even with the vintage goodness? Because I can’t. It’s so good up close. And you know what makes it even cooler? My Grandpa MADE the picture frame. He was a shop teacher and pretty talented woodworker, so he routed and built the whole thing. It’s a pretty amazing treasure!

That embroidery is absolutely beautiful! How special that it came from your grandmother and the frame from your grandfather. What a family treasure! Thanks for sharing it. I would love to make something like that.

Glad you reigned in the crazy… hee-hee. Shopping your own Christmas stash for the win. Loving the galvanized bucket and tray… and that Merry Christmas print is great. Is it embroidered? Hugs to you, friend.
