BIG GIRL ROOM: SOURCE LIST

Last week I shared Adelie’s big girl room, so I’m back today with sources and the cost breakdown. When you collect stuff like I do, it’s sort of hard to put a price tag on how much a room costs.  Since I’ve picked up things over time, the cost is spread out in mostly $10 to $20 increments and lots of stuff is pulled in from places around the house where it’s not really being used, but if you consider what I bought to really get this room together, the whole thing cost me less than $50.00.  All in, it was around $120. This post was going to be a combination of sources and my favorite tips for doing a room on the cheap, but it got insanely long.  So I’ll be sharing my sources and pricing (where I can remember it) here and save the tips post for a little later.

Shelf: IKEA (stained with Minwax Early American) Cost: Approx. $10
Clock: Made by my Great Grandpa (face lifted by me) Tutorial here
Books: Thrifted ($10)
Book Ends: Paper Mache letters from Hobby Lobby Cost: $2.49/ea (tutorial coming)
Book Basket: Thrifted ($0.50) Similar here
Frames were thrifted and spray painted in Krylon Gold.  And the sign was made by my grandpa when Adelie was born.

Trunk: Estate Sale ($10) Painted Mint Condition from Sherwin Williams
Fabric on Trunk Seat: JoAnn’s (on sale $4.49/yd)

I wanted to incorporate things that Adelie loves and that have meaning for her (as I try to do with every room in my house).  As you can imagine, at four years old, she’s a collector of “treasures,” so I added a jar of sand and shells, and rocks we’ve collected from various trips.

Headboard: Free.  It’s actually one of those hotel headboards that mounts to the wall. I upholstered it with fabric from JoAnn’s (tutorial coming soon)
SHINE: Chipboard letters from Hobby Lobby ($2.00/ea)
Pillows: Made by my sister while I supervised (I don’t sew). Fabric from JoAnn’s ($4.49/yd on sale)
Art: Made by my daughter.  Frame thrifted and spray painted gold.
Quilt & Shams: Given to me by my grandma. You can find a similar ones here or here.
Nightstand: Free from a friend & spray painted gold
Unicorn Print: My shop
Know You Are Loved sign: Made by me
Pink Armoire: Thrifted and painted by me ($30)
Bulletin Board: Tutorial here
You can find more about the Eloise print here.

Chair & Fur Throw: IKEA (Chair $60/Throw $10).  The chair was originally meant for my office, but seemed to work better in here, so I pulled it in, which means for the purposes of this room, it was free.

Gold Mirror: Thrifted & painted by me
And finally, I don’t remember the name of the paint color, but it’s a super soft, pink.  Almost white, with a hint of pink really. The formula is below.

If you have other questions, feel free to comment or send me an e-mail!  I’ll be back later this week with tutorials and an announcement that I’m SO excited to share with you!!

I love your style!! Thank you for the bird with a french fry free printable!! When my husband went on our honeymoon, a bird visited us every day to take one of our fries so every time I see this saying, it reminds me of how much fun we had!

    THANK YOU!

I came across your site while searching for inspiration for my home decor, and this is one of the most lovely rooms I have ever seen. I love all the details, thank you for sharing!

I just stumbled upon your site and love your style! I have a trunk similar to the one in this post that I purchased at a yard sale for $8. I would love to know, did you add that cushion on the top, and how did you do it? My trunk has been sitting in my basement for a few months until inspiration hits. It is a light blue color which is okay by me but needs to be painted as it is kind of chippy. Thanks for sharing your style!

Lovely room! I know the purple and pink floral fabric is from
Joann’s, but do you happen to know the name of it or the collection it is from? Thanks!!

Thank you!! I just checked the selvage edge and it says “Exclusively designed and produced for JoAnn fabric and craft stores.” At my JoAnn’s, there’s a wall of their quilting fabrics sorted by colors, and that’s where I found it. Hope that helps a little!
